Bit Trip Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien follows up on the side-scrolling/platforming adventures of Commander Video as he enters the HyperSphere in pursuit of Timbletot. The game mixes the music rhythm genre with the endless runner, testing player’s reflexes as they jump, slide, shield, hit, and dance their way through five themed worlds.
Like other endless runners, Runner 2 constantly moves the player forward through each level. Players must dodge obstacles and enemies with a number of different abilities. If the player is hit, they must restart from the beginning of the level or from a checkpoint they’ve reached. Keys can be picked up to unlock alternative exits to levels and video game cartridges unlock retro styled 2D levels. Each level ends with a bonus mini-game, in which the player is fired from a canon onto a dart board, scoring bonus points. Players can unlock other characters to play as well as an assortment of costumes.
Runner 2 was developed by Gaijin Games, an indie developer who have become quite well known because of their Bit. Trip. Game series. The game has been released digitally on the Wii U, Ps3, Xbox 360, and PC.
