Batman: Arkham Asylum - Xbox 360

Madness has overrun Arkham Asylum, and only Batman is brave enough to venture inside to quell the prisoner uprising. Use a fresh take on classic beat-em-up mechanics (plus stealth) to inject fear into the bad guys.

3D Metroidvania done right. It's as if they wanted to make a Castlevania but didn't have the rights, but already had the castle and bat idea so Batman in Arkham Asylum! Oh, so clever. But undeniably the best example there is of said sub-genre, it mixes up group-based brawling, stealth take-down, puzzle solving, and plain old adventuring to result in not only the most comprehensive Batman experience comparable to anything before it, but also showcased the next proper evolution of its game genre.

9.4/10 A catch of a batarang, gliding from rooftops, countering a punch. You become the Batman! Combining innovative combat, grim environments, & steady progression, your stay in Arkham Asylum is welcome. The atmosphere is darker than Burton, but more fantastical than Nolan. Add the cast and writers of Fox's Batman, AA feels familiar yet all its own. Nearing game's end reveals the limit of AA's mechanics followed by a weak climax. Still, B:AA is a must own akin to TombRaider13 or MetroidPrime.

Batman Arkham Asylum was and still is a great Batman game. The game was the one that started it all. I think people dont appreciate Arkham Asylum. But I do, the game's story is great and its one of the best storylines, the combat is very polished and wel done, the voice acting is great, and well this game is great. Overall if a batman game makes you feel like Batman then its really good.

The stealth gameplay and visual designs are what I really liked about this game. The combat looks cool although you don't actually do that much. The enemies are too generic and the combat consequently gets monotonous. Worst of all is the cartoonish version of the villains. The game tries to have the raw realism of the latest Nolan films, but the villains are like those from the old cartoonish films, they don't fit in at all with the game. What you get is a bad combination of the two.

I love this game! The gameplay is great and fluid, story is entertaining, the level designs is awesome, and it has a lot of extra things to do. A must play for anyone that likes Batman, or likes to play a fun action game.

This game set the tone for what I feel an action brawler should be these days. Granted I had a few problems with the ending of the game, they are such minor nit-picks to what I consider a nearly perfect gaming experience. It's not complex at all, in fact, it's very simple to play, but hard to master. This game gives me such a great sense of being a complete and total bad ass unlike any other game I've played before. Strongly recommended for fans of Batman and/or brawlers.

All the action is on rails, the combat is some quick time event-like mess, and you spend too much time walking around and climbing things. This is the kind of game we get a lot these days: a movie with some gameplay stuffed in it. If you are into action adventure cinematic, high production value games I think this might be for you. But from a pure gameplay prespective i find this to be a mess. It's not that it doesn't work as intended. the controlls are responsive. But I hate how it all works.

"A game which gives the nostalgic feeling of the animated show of the 90's but with up-to date versions of the characters. Arkham asylum is quite possibly the best Super-hero game ever in my opinion."

Aside from Harley being all... revealed, and the chugging of combat once in a while I enjoyed it.

This game changed my perspective of super hero video games! Yeah... Superman 64 was the issue. But this game itself exceeded no only my gaming expectations, but my batman fan expectations. I recommend this game!

Great game. It combines Beat em Up, Metroidvania, and Stealth into one game. It's extremely easy to get into and great voice actors with Kevin Conoroy, Mark Hillman and Steve Blum to name some. BUT the thing holding it back is the bosses which were mostly disappointing except Poision Ivy and Scarecrow which are amazing. Ending was ok but its never the less an amazing game to get.

 Tekken 5 - PlayStation 2
"Each fighter has their own reason entering the King of the Iron Fist Tournament, with cinematic storylines that play out beautifully. A variety of different game modes give this game a lot of replay ability. In Tekken: Devil Within, you play as Jin Kazama and have to defeat swarms of enemy's to find out the truth of his past and the devil gene, which allows you to transform into Devil Jin for stronger attacks. Arcade history allows you to play Starblade, Tekken 1 through 3. Best Tekken for PS2." - grandmasterp

"It's such a great game I play it all the time on my Xbox but I really want a Dreamcast to feel like I'm playing the real version of it." - doglover22

California Games - Sega Master System
"When I think of California Games, I think of the versions for the Atari systems such as the Lynx. I didn't know a Master System version existed." - fasttquick

Beyond Good & Evil - Nintendo GameCube
"Under-appreciated in its time, BG&E features a fully realized universe with charming characters and an intriguing plot. The wonderful art & music accentuates everything the game does. And it does a lot: exploration, puzzles, photography, driving, flying, shooting, melee, stealth. Incredibly, it all works really well and never feels forced. It’s one of the best games you can buy for the NGC and is now even offered in a stellar HD version that’s available on a number of platforms." - stereopathic
