Activision Blizzard’s Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick reported that in 2012 his company delivered the best performance in its history with “better-than expected net revenues, record operating margins and record earnings, and over $1.3 billion in operating cash flow.” Kotick said that in 2013 the company will continue to invest in established
franchises and new properties but earnings are not expected to be as high as in 2012 due to a “challenged global economy, the ongoing console transition and a difficult year-over-year comparison because of Blizzard’s record-shattering
Diablo® III success in 2012.”
Early 2013 plans include the release of Revolution, a downloadable map pack for Black Ops II. On January 29, the Xbox 360 version was released with the release on more platforms planned during the first quarter.
On March 12, 2013, Blizzard Entertainment plans to release StarCraft® II: Heart of the Swarm, the first expansion to Blizzard’s StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.
Plans for later in 2013? Fans of Call of Duty will be excited but possibly not surprised to learn that a new COD will hit later this year.
