Nintendo Lowers Sales Forecast for Wii U and 3DS
Nintendo has released quarterly financial results and with the release comes disappointing news about its Wii U and 3DS. The company has revised its forecast of Wii U sales through end of March from 5.5 to 4 million units. The forecast of sales for the 3DS is now expected to be 15 million, 2.5 million less than originally expected. Additionally, the company will post an operating loss for a second straight year.
The popularity of smartphones and tablets with cheap or free games has had an impact on sales of traditional consoles, however, it does not appear that Nintendo will be changing the course of its business and offering games on those devices at this time.
